Mau Hat

So we now have the first of the accessory patterns from Nua Collection Volume 2; Mau Hat. Nua yarn is pretty much perfect for accessories; it’s lightweight, super warm and soft. Definitely like wearing a hug. This is one of my favouirte styles of hat, a simple beanie that can be pulled down a little over the ears on windy days.

The edge of the hat is in rolled stockinette stitch. There are less stitches cast-on so that the edge fits well. Remember that when you size a hat you always want a few inches of negative ease, that’s how the hat will stay on and fit snuggly!


Then the taffy cable is worked. This cable has been staggered which really shows it off and doesn’t pull the hat in too tightly. I love how the staggering gives it a more casual, almost accidental look as though the cables are scattered across the hat.
