100th pattern coming soon….

Much to my amazement I’m fast approaching my 100th pattern.  I’m now at 98 published patterns!  To mark the 100th pattern release I’m doing something special, I’m going to have a KAL like I’ve never done before.  I’ve given this KAL it’s own page so you can read all about it here. In the next few weeks my testers will be finishing up and I’ll put the last few touches to the pattern.  Keep checking back here on my blog (and sign up for the newsletter) and you’ll be sure to spot when sign ups are open.  I’m having a great time putting the information pages for this KAL together, basically they will include my thought process as I’m working through the pattern, why I made different choices and showing how I would plan on making modifications.  Anything that has the potential to trip you up along the way will be talked through so you can see exactly how it works.  Its going to be quite an experience…

For anyone thinking about buying my new beret pattern, Breaca – come get it quick, today is the last day to be entered in the draw for a free skein of Spud & Chloe yarn!

  1. I’m really looking forward to this KAL – the design is delightful and looks like an interesting knit. Can’t wait to pick out my yarn.

  2. Got my pattern, and looking at the yarn. Carol, your pattern lists Blue Moon Fiber Arts “Socks that Rock – Medium weight (5.5 oz skein) with 21 stitches to 4 inch. Blue Moon web site show 6 oz skein with 7-8 stitches to the inch with size 2 needle. Is this the same yarn?
Also, Ravelry does not have your KAL up today.

  3. This is the correct yarn I used in the pattern – http://www.bluemoonfiberarts.com/newmoon/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=182_4_66
The gauge they have listed is much tighter as they are suggesting it for sock use. However the actual yarn weight is really a heavy sportsweight/light DK. I comfortably got the gauge of 21 sts per 4″ with the 4mm needles.
The yardage I have on the ball band is shows 380 yds per 155g. I don’t know if the ball band is incorrect, the website is incorrect or if they have changed the yardage. The company will have to verify the yardage. However if you go with the skein suggestions I’ve made you will have enough yarn and if the yardage has been increased you’ll have a little extra as bonus :)
