Every year at the RDS in Dublin the Knitting & Stitching show is held. There are very few big knitting and craft events in Ireland so this is quite a big deal. Looking through this years lineup it seems like there is a huge range of gallery exhibitions there. Black Sheep (The Darker Side of Felt), The Graduate Showcase, Irish Patchwork Society, Cork Textiles Network, National College of Art and design, CIT Crawford and Jo Beattie.
Every year, in addition to the fascinating gallery exhibitions, there is a large range of products on sale, you can see the full list here. A few that caught my eye are This Is Knit (they’re Malabrigo exclusive this year), Craftspun Yarns, Coolree…in fact this is the knitting only exhibitor list!
This year the show is on at the end of the month, 30th October – 2nd November. They’ve given me 3 pairs of tickets to give away for any day except Saturday. Entries are limited to Ireland only as I’ll have to mail the ticket out to you (and you need to be able to travel!).
To enter leave a comment below before the end of Sunday 12th October telling me what the first stand (or exhibition) you want to visit is at the show.
SO many to pick from! Maybe one of the yarn places but I think buttons are a priority at the moment so the Button Studio maybe?
I usually head for Black Sheep Wools to replenish my stash of yarns!
I’m not sure which stand I’ll be going to first as there is far too much to choose from, and I can’t wait to sample some new yarns. That said I will definitely visit Coolree as I love their vivid colors. This is Knit’s malabrigo range sounds quite tempting too…
The first stand I want to visit is “This is Knit” – my favourite wool shop in Ireland. After that, I will simply wander around & enjoy the whole show. Last year was my first visit to the show & I loved it.
Way too much to choose from! But with that said, my mam is a quilter and she’ll be over from Canada so for us it’ll probably be the Irish Patchwork Society. For me it’ll be Coolree… I love their colours!
I tend to wander throughout before making purchases, but TIK is always top of the must-visit list ( I am biased!)
For exhibitions it would be the guys from Cork and the graduate showcase – always interesting to see what is coming through. Yarnwise, I’d love to dive into TIK’s malabrigo and treat myself to some Coolree.
I’m about to join Cork Textile Network, so I’d love to see their exhibition, as well as the NCAD. To see the Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers would be good to see, too and then after that lots of shops, yarn, fiber for spinning, if possible. It’d be my first time going, so I’d have to plan militarily!
I think Coolree will be my first port of call…closely followed by This is Knit ☺
Silkfelt Collective exhibition first, then …..everything.
