A week of sunshine & a giveaway!

So we’ve got a rare week of sunshine here in Ireland and it feels good!
Its making me want to knit all the summer yarns. Right up on the top of that list is linen. Linen is a fantastic fiber to wear in the summer and best of all it just improves with use.
The most recent design I did with Linen was Nouri for pom-pom quarterly. (Print & digital version here). This uses Quince & Co Kestrel which is a heavy worsted organic linen that is spun using a ribbon structure.

If you want to knit a version of Nouri for yourself I’ve got a great giveaway courtesy of Quince & Co! They will give a sweater quantity of Kestrel to the winner of the giveaway.
In the comments below just let me know what color of Kestrel (there are 17!) that you will knit your version in. Only comments on my blog will go into the raffle. I will draw a prize on the morning of the 10th of June (Irish time).
Note: If you live outside of the US you will only have to pay shipping costs, yarn costs are free.

  1. I’ve had this pattern earmarked for hot summer knitting. Looks like it’ll be a dream in Aegean. That cool blue will remind me of the tropical sun long after I’m back.

  2. I’ve had my eye on this pattern since it hit Ravelry. I would knot it in Pebble.

  3. They are all such beautiful shades , so hard to pick just one. I just adore Rosehip.

  4. Byzantium is such a regal colour.. amethysts and dusky petals… would suit my daughter.

  5. I just bought my first issue of Pom Pom just for this pattern. All done up in Byzantium of course.

  6. Oh how fabulous! I have never knitted with linen before, so this would be a treat! With all the lovely colours I can’t decide. I love the bright summery colour of rosehip, but I think urchin might be more practical for me and may possibly show off the design details of Nouri better.

  7. Rosehip! So beautiful! I have a sleeveless top I knitted in linen nearly 20 years ago. It still looks just as nice. It doesn’t wrinkle and has a wonderful drape!

  8. I would love to knit this sweater in Ebb Tide. It looks so easy to wear!

  9. Wow, how very generous! Since this might be more of a fall sweater here in the steadily mid-Atlantic, I’ve got my eye on Rosehip. Gorgeous design.

  10. I have never knit with linen before! I would choose Pebble I think. Nice neutral color.

  11. My knitter friends tease me because I love the colour blue and have knit many blue garments! This gorgeous sweater would be beautiful in Ebb Tide.

  12. I love the pattern and the yarn looks neat. I’d choose Yarrow because it looks so much like the sunshine you describe. We’ve not seen too much sun in Virginia lately, either!

  13. I think ebb tide or ash would be my choices. Have never knit with linen, but love the design

  14. The sweater is lovely and the yarn looks amazing. I love linen. Turtle would be the color for me.

  15. Wonderful sweater! All of Quince & Co. colors are great, so it’s hard to choose. I love Wave, though.

  16. I just order the PomPom magazine that your pattern is featured in. I would love to make it in Aegean or Pebble I love them both! Thank you!

  17. Such a lovely and summery sweater. My colour choice of Kestral for this sweater would be “Wave”. Such a gorgeous design and yarn choice.

  18. Turtle is my favorite, although there are so many lovely color choices. The minute I saw Nouri I ordered Pom-Pom quarterly; I love the elegant simplicity of this sweater. (And someone at Pom-Pom added the nicest handwritten note, so thoughtful.)

  19. This is a lovely pattern. I would knit this in Byzantium, I am partial to purples.

  20. So many beautiful colors. I think ebb tide would be my choice.

  21. I really like all the colors, It was a really hard choice. But I choose pebble! Also, another beautiful pattern Carol!

  22. I’m knitting this for my niece and she is a blue girl so I think cove is perfect for her

  23. I love knitting with linen for summer and getting to wear my knits in the summer! I’d definitely knit this one up in Urchin, it’s such a lovely and unique green.

  24. Love this pattern….. It’s hard to choose a color they are all wonderful. Tending toward pebble or urchin
    Perfect for AZ.
