Knit Stars Season 9 – Permission to Shine

Have you heard of Knit Stars?

Over the last few years, I’ve been aware of Knit Stars in the background. It seemed like a really interesting idea. From the comfort of your own home, you get to travel the world virtually and meet all these wonderful knitting instructors. You get to see their spaces and their lives outside of knitting. Learn about their inspirations and designs as well as taking a masterclass with them.

But this year is different.

This year Knit Stars CEO and founder Shelley Brander asked if I’d like to be part of their ninth season: ‘Permission to Shine‘.

As you can probably imagine, I said yes! It’s such a great opportunity to bring you into my world, so you can see Ireland (or at least my little piece of Ireland) here in Cork. You get to see my yarns and designs through my eyes.

It’s a maker’s dream.

We will record here in Cork at the very beginning of May, and I’ll share lots of behind the scenes with you all as it happens! Their videos are relaxed and you really feel as though you’re sitting with the instructor and the quality – oh my, it’s cinematic! You’ll get to see the studio and what life is really like for me here in Cork. So if there is anything you would love to see, make sure to leave a comment below!

New to Knit Stars?

If Knit Stars is new to you, it’s a series of masterclasses with a group of instructors that are all available for you to learn at your own pace. They initially go on sale with their ‘Early Bird’ opening window on April 24th.

Knit Stars is sold as a complete bundle, so you get all the masterclasses for that season when you purchase. When you purchase Knit Stars, you get all the masterclasses for that season, which are released on a timed schedule throughout the year, giving you something to look forward to as you build your knitting skill set.

Think of it like watching 10 red-carpet movie premieres all from the comfort of your own home. And you own it, so you can watch it as many times as you like and on your schedule.

Permission to Shine Masterclass – Reversible Cables

Are you curious about what I’m going to be teaching you in this masterclass?

In this class I’ll be starting with a few of my favourite things—woollen spun Irish yarn and cables. But we’ll soon take it to a whole new level, moving into reversible cables for the first time!

Yes, this is the first time I’m teaching this technique.

Reversible cables have fascinated me for a long time. There are several different ways of creating them, but they all create work that is attractive on both the right and wrong side of your knitting. Some reversible cables look identical on both sides, while other ones have different yet attractive cables on each side.

Reversible cables are particularly useful for fabric that is viewed from both sides, as there is no ‘wrong’ side. This is a perfect match for our class projects, a scarf or blanket option. Both of these knitted items will be viewed from both sides and with reversible cables you can have it looking perfect on both sides!

Intrigued?

Oh yes, there’s more…

Knit Stars Exclusive Yarn Kits

We’ve also got a second Knit Stars surprise for you – a brand new exclusive custom colour in Blasta for the Ros yarn kits. We’ve been working with Donegal Yarns to produce a new colour we just adore. It’s a rich raspberry pink that is a great addition to the Blasta range. Kits will be available through MDK for their pre-order window only on May 6th – 9th 2024, so make sure you don’t miss it!

Our Blasta yarn offers phenomenal stitch definition with a soft, rustic charm and it’s made with 60% Irish fleece! It’s the perfect yarn for cables, allowing them to pop with the yarn bloom on blocking. This is a rustic yarn yet is still comfortable to knit with and wear. But don’t take my word for it. You can see what others think of Blasta in our customer reviews right here.

So if you’d like to join me in Knit Stars Season 9 Permission to Shine and take on reversible cables, make sure you click this button:

  1. Yes! I’m pretty excited you are one of the instructors. I signed up super early…and having you as a teacher is the icing on the cake!!! Happy dance….

  2. Congratulations, Carol! I have been a Knit Stars subscriber since almost its beginning and it is a very high quality teaching tool. It is wonderful to be able to have the information as a resource – forever! I love learning about new techniques from enthusiastic experts and enjoy hearing about their lives as makers. Since I have enjoyed making several of your knit-along patterns I look forward to the project you will be presenting!

  3. Hello Carol, if we wanted to buy your kit – would it be shipping from Ireland and thus be EU compatible customswise? Buying from outside the EU is terribly complicated and very expensive for us Germans due to the added import taxes and fees. Thank you! Warmly, Renate

  4. Hi Renate, they will be shipped from the US I’m afraid. I don’t know how they are set up for duty etc. The new Ros (Raspberry colour) will only be available through them but the other Blasta colours are always available on our website.
