Dark Pearl Nua

Right now we are all scared and worried about what happening around the world and in our own country with the Covid-19 pandemic. The best advice out there is telling us to stay at home and away from public spaces which for us knitters will mean a lot more knitting time!

Woollinn, the Dublin yarn festival, is due to take place in June this year. Before the festival they run a MAL (make along) which has both a knit and crochet design. This year my redesigned, Dark Pearl Nua, along with Aoibhe Ni’s crochet design, Venus, are the two MAL patterns. Right now we are in such a big period of uncertainty that I’m holding fast to my knitting community for support and my knitting for physical calming. Pattern Details

Several years ago I designed a pattern called Dark Pearl. This used a fingering weight yarn for the cardigan. I’ve redesigned the sizing for this cardigan to use Nua Sport which is a slightly heavier weight yarn so the sizes, yarn amounts and final details are slightly different. However if you’ve previously purchased Dark Pearl on Ravelry you can just drop Dark Pearl Nua into your shopping basket and you’ll get it for free!

So a little bit more about the pattern:

This cardigan is knit from the top down with raglan shoulder shaping. When the back of the body is finished the front scalloped lace panel is worked from picked up stitches along the side. This front panel can be buttoned or allowed to drape down the side.
